So now we know..

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in a person's mood, energy, and ability to function. Different from the normal ups and downs that everyone goes through, the symptoms of bipolar disorder are severe. They can result in damaged relationships, poor job or school performance, and even suicide. But there is good news: bipolar disorder can be treated, and people with this illness can lead full and productive lives.

I figured that'd be the verdict.

It's a good thing, Dora. It's got a name, and it's got some very effective treatments. I have a couple of friends who live happy, fulfilled lives with BPD. It can be a bitch to get the meds sorted out, but once you do, man, your life is going to be so different.

I know it feels good to put a name to it. It'll also help you redefine "normal" and help you feel more in control of things. Thankfully you also have the blog where you can unload and get support from your friends.

Rock on sistah :)

Thanks you two. You'se rule.

It wasn't a surprise by any means. Just a relief to FINALLY have someone who seems to know what they're doing confirm what I've suspected for a very long time. And I'm hoping that the meds help, I really am. The doc seemed VERY comfortable with the various meds, so I'm secure in the knowledge that she'll be helpful.

It's a nice weight off my shoulders. Next up-tubal land tomorrow!

Putting a name to it has got to be a big load off your mind. Good luck getting the meds sorted out. I know working out the correct dosage on that type of thing can be difficult. Hopefully it won't take you long to find the right balance. Good luck with the tubal!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Yes, the obvious irony of this praise is hitting me like a ton of bricks. But I'm glad you finally have an answer. :)

Glad to hear you finally have an answer, Thordora. I hope you get some very effective treatment.
